Welcome to Rooted & Rising

A journey of truth. A journey of healing. A journey home to yourself.

I wrote Rooted & Rising because pain that comes from family isn’t always visible — but it never disappears on its own. Many of us learned to survive instead of feel. We carried unspoken hurt, childhood wounds, favoritism, loss, and silence because we were told to “be strong.”

This book was born from the little girl inside me who wanted to be chosen, seen, and protected — and from the woman I became who realized she could choose herself and build a life rooted in self-worth and purpose.

Inspired by the strength of my mother, the lessons life taught me, and the resilience that comes from pain you refuse to let break you, this book is both a testimony and a turning point.

About the Author

Detra Ferguson

Rooted in Truth. Rising in Purpose.

Detra Ferguson is a mother, entrepreneur, healer, and truth-teller who turned her pain into purpose and her story into strength. Raised in a family where love and hurt lived side-by-side, she learned early how to survive storms — but she chose to grow from them instead.

For years, Detra carried unspoken pain — childhood wounds, family conflict, loss, and the quiet battles so many women fight behind closed doors. She built success, businesses, and a life she could be proud of, yet it was her inner work — the healing, the forgiveness, the boundaries, the self-rediscovery — that transformed her.
